Who we are

Expat Suriname is a trade name of BlueOceanSolutions B.V., Chamber of Commerce 92101550, registered at Duintopstraat 11, 1361 BJ Almere, the Netherlands. Where these terms say “we” or “us”, that means BlueOceanSolutions B.V.

Information, not advice

Everything on this site is general information. It is not financial, tax, legal, medical or immigration advice, and it is not tailored to your situation.

We do not compare financial products, do not recommend any, and do not calculate what a product would cost or return for you. We are not a financial adviser or intermediary within the meaning of the Dutch Financial Supervision Act (Wet op het financieel toezicht), and we do not act as one.

For your own situation, speak to someone qualified. If you reach such a person through us, the advice you get is theirs, not ours.

How our articles are produced

Some of our articles are written with the help of AI and checked afterwards. Where that is the case, it is stated on the article.

We do our best to keep information correct and current, but rules on moving, residence, tax and money change, sometimes without notice. For any decision that matters, check the official source. No rights can be derived from this site.

Introductions

On some articles you can send a short enquiry. If you do, we put you in touch with the party named in the consent sentence.

What we do is make an introduction: we pass on what you filled in. We do not advise you, we do not compare anything for you and we do not broker an agreement. Whatever you and that party agree afterwards is between you. We are not a party to it and not liable for their service, their prices or their conduct.

An introduction is free to you and commits you to nothing. We may receive a fee from the receiving party. That changes nothing about what you are shown: nothing is ranked, recommended or calculated for you.

Only enter your own details, and only if you genuinely want to be contacted.

Accounts

Some features need an account. Keep your details accurate and your sign-in credentials to yourself; what happens under your account is your responsibility.

You can close your account at any time. We may end an account where these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken; we will tell you, unless the law prevents us.

What is not allowed

Do not enter false details or someone else's. No automated submissions, scraping or attempts to get around our security. Do not overload or disrupt the site. Do not send unlawful, abusive or misleading content. Do not reproduce or reuse our articles at scale without permission.

We can block access where the site is misused.

Intellectual property

The articles, text, design, name and logos on this site belong to BlueOceanSolutions B.V. or to our licensors.

You may use the site and share articles by linking to them. Copying, reproducing or reusing them commercially needs our written permission.

Links and other sites

We link to external sites and to other services in our network, such as SuriHousing and SuriCareer. Those other services have their own terms and privacy notice.

We are not responsible for the content or operation of third-party sites.

Availability

We do our best to keep the site available but do not promise uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, faults and changes are part of it, and we may change or discontinue features.

Liability

We are not liable for loss arising from use of the information on this site, from decisions you base on it, or from the conduct of a party we have introduced you to.

This limitation does not apply in cases of intent or deliberate recklessness on our part, nor to the extent the law does not permit liability to be limited — including your mandatory rights as a consumer, which these terms leave untouched.

Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when that last happened. If you keep using the site after a change, the new version applies.

Governing law

Dutch law applies to these terms. Disputes go to the competent Dutch court, unless mandatory law designates another.
